ENEMY MINE
When friends become enemies and enemies become lovers.
Born in the blood of Sierra Leone’s Civil War, enslaved, then sold to the US as an orphan, Base Branch operative, Sloan Harris is emotionally dead and driven by vengeance. With no soul to give, her body becomes the bargaining chip to infiltrate a warlord’s inner circle, the man called The Devil who killed her family and helped destroy a region.
As son of the warlord, Baine Kendrick will happily use Sloan’s body, if it expedites his father’s demise. Yet, he is wholly unprepared for the possessive and protective emotions she provokes. Maybe it’s the flashes of memory. Two forgotten children drawing in the dirt beneath the boabab tree. But he fears there is more at stake than his life.
In the Devil’s den with Baine by her side, Sloan braves certain death and discovers a spirit for living.
JUSTICE MINE
For justice. For country. For love.
After witnessing her friend’s sexual assault, seven year senior, Magdalena Wells escapes an attack with a few bruises and a thousand questions. As a journalist in practice, if not in pay, Mags vows to utilize the skills she mastered in the Democratic Republic of Congo and answer every single one, just as soon as she gets the hell out of town.
Law Pierce’s aim is rest and relaxation after two years undercover in South Africa on an extended Base Branch mission, but restlessness puts him in trouble’s path. As a servant of justice, Law will do everything in his power to keep trouble safe. The fact that trouble’s petite stature and luscious curves stir his every primal instinct is a massive inconvenience he struggles to ignore.
Together Magdalena and Law uncover a web of corruption and dirty lies that could set their country’s top official ablaze, if the inferno doesn’t consume them first.
STRANGER MINE
One takes control. One finds balance in letting go.
Base Branch operative, Ryan Noble is accustomed to taking orders whether from his commander or his overbearing mother. His best friend urged him to take control of his life, but the only thing worse than an angry woman is a teary one. He has no desire to upset his mother’s fragile emotions. Losing his sister was hard enough, his mom couldn’t bear losing another child. Even if it is to the other side of D.C. It’s a damn good thing she doesn’t know what he does for a living.
On a routine mission to destroy a cargo free human trafficking facility and exterminate it’s operators, Ryan blows his extraction to rescue a woman he finds chained inside.
Piper Vega is caught between metal and a hard place. She needs information and it has taken far too long to cull it from her leads, also known as her captors. She finally has the facts she needs to complete her task, but it’ll take a miracle to set her free and see it achieved. Santo Padre knows she never expected her good favor to come in the form of a man.
Ryan takes the reins of life in his sturdy grip while Piper discovers balance in loosening hers. Through intense battles of will, both find the unexpected.

Interview - Enemy Mine
- Where did you get the idea for Enemy Mine? Enemy Mine came first as a single stand alone novel. The idea sparked while watching a documentary, First Position. Yes, it’s about ballet. No, I’m not a ballerina. But it was winter and I was nursing a newborn for hours on end, which lent itself well to snuggling and binging on TV (which I never do). The film told the story of Michaela DePrince, born in the height of Sierra Leone’s civil war, orphaned, adopted by an American couple to become one of the world’s elite ballerinas. Her physical power, grace, and inner strength awed me. I found myself thinking of her, her struggle and rise from unimaginable heartache. The seed germinated into Enemy Mine.
- What projects are you working on now? When is your next project expected to be released? Warrior Mine (book 4 - Vail’s story) will release January 2015. I have also submitted two short stories for anthologies to Cleis Press, who has published some of my earlier works. I am also writing For All to See, the first novel in the Bureau Series due out April 2015.
- How many books are in the Base Branch Series? Enemy Mine is the first of the Base Branch Series. Also released with it are Justice Mine (book 2 - Law’s story) and Stranger Mine (book 3 - Ryan’s story). There are seven novels plotted in this series. Each follows a hero and heroine previously met in the series, but the heroes and heroines from past novels are know to drop in on occasion.
- What do you do when you’re not writing? Sleep. Kidding! I have a wonderful family to nurture, for which I am ever grateful and exhausted. Since writing and reading require me to be still so many hours in the day, when I’m not writing I’m moving; working out, running, biking, kayaking, horse-back riding, playing with our horse-sized dogs, doing laundry, dishes, taxiing. Also known as…life.
Interview - Justice Mine
- Where did you get the idea for Justice Mine? Baine’s grandfather’s butler has a small role in Justice Mine, but he created the plot from thin air and presented it on a silver platter. You see, Easton Well…the butler, has a daughter who becomes his surrogate little sister after he and his mother moved to London. Then Magdalena was there, a fully-formed trouble maker with billowy blond hair, a sassy mouth, and tons to prove. Law was back from his undercover stent in Africa, looking to quietly decompress. But Magdalena and trouble are never far apart. In her effort to avoid it, she headed home to her brother, but found Law instead.

- Which is your favorite cover? That’s like picking a favorite child. And like children, these covers are all different. You have the easy one: Justice Mine. It came together immediately with the perfect stance to mimic Law’s strong and distant nature. You have the trouble maker: Enemy Mine. I was beginning to think we’d never find the level of burly badassness to adequately represent Baine, when the designers went for broke on this one and won me over big time. Then you have the unassuming charmer: Stranger Mine. It’s quiet colors and striking nature stole my heart from the first glance.
Guest Post - Travel Time
My favorite part about writing the Base Branch Series—besides getting to better know the uniquely complicated and stubbornly passionate characters—is the travel. Do I have the means to jet set from Washington D.C. to Africa, to London, and then Los Angeles to Mexico? Nope, but I can research with the best of them. I. Did. A. Ton. Of. Research. And loved every minute of it.
Did you know Sierra Leone hosts hundreds of miles of pristine beach nestled against the cobalt water of the Atlantic Ocean? How about this? Many tube stations in the London Underground were used as air-raid shelters during the Second World War.
Thanks to Google maps, I’ve roamed the streets of Hermosillo, Mexico and scoped the dusky grass of the Kruger Lowveld. You know my places to travel to list has tripled in the last year. I’ll start witting it down with a trip to Mexico in a few months. Yay!

Guest Post - Cover Crush (will need three cover header included with it)
I could spend this entire post talking about how wonderful Delilah Devlin is. But I won't. If you're here you already know as much. I'll just say, "Thank you, DD, for your compassion, encouragement, and sharing your imagination with us, your revenues throng of eager readers."
Why is it a book is not a book until it has a cover?
You see, I recently unveiled three new covers, all my very own. No, I didn't design them. But the words they guard the door for are mine. All mine! Yet, the words didn't seem real until that sentinel stood tall before them. Almost 200,000 words, and they didn't seem real. Crazy right? Then again, not.
Though the words make the story, it's not a marketable product without a cover. The good. The bad. The Oh my gosh, what were they thinking! You still need it to make a book. When I think back to some of my favorite novels none are the ones with the most beautiful cover. This doesn't stop me from having cover crushes. My current lady crush is Delilah's Once in a Blue Moon. My current man crush is Parker Kincade's Borrowed Cowboy.
Who are your current cover crushes?
I'll leave you in the capable hands of these three hotties. Baine. Law. Ryan. Maybe they'll be list contenders.
